We build the operating system
we wished builders had.

Builders aren’t drowning because they lack software. They’re drowning because every tool holds a fragment of the job and someone rebuilds the whole picture by hand. VIABUILD is the Construction Operating System that understands the job instead, with Oryn’s intelligence embedded through every workflow.

01 / Why we built it

The problem we kept seeing

Builders are some of the busiest people in any trade, on the tools or on site all day, then doing the admin at night. Invoices keyed into Xero after dinner. Margins discovered at close-out, when it’s too late to fix them. Quotes that take so long the lead goes cold. Safety in a second app with a second bill.

None of that is the building. It’s the reconstruction wrapped around it. Construction doesn’t have a software shortage, it has an understanding shortage: every tool stores a fragment of the job, so the whole picture gets rebuilt by hand at every handover. That rebuild is the Reconstruction Tax every builder pays without ever naming it. Most software made that heavier, not lighter: a disconnected stack of spreadsheets, a separate takeoff app, a scheduler and email for POs, with double entry between every one. So we set out to build one connected operating system, with Oryn™ reading and coding your invoices instead of manual data entry, live cost tracking instead of a month-end spreadsheet, and a site app supervisors will actually use.

VIABUILD keeps accounting in Xero where it belongs, and runs the whole construction workflow (estimate, win, build, claim, know) on one data model, at one price. It doesn’t just store the job, it understands it: a system of understanding, not another system of record. Oryn is the intelligence embedded in every module, not a chatbot on the side: it reads the plans, extracts the invoices, drafts the claims and flags the variances before you have to go looking.

02 / What we believe

How we think about builder software

Built in Australia

Designed in Australia for Australian builders: GST, BAS, ABN matching, Xero. Built for how building works here, not a US product with the currency changed.

Tested at real volume

We test at builder volume (hundreds of invoices a month, dozens of active jobs, multiple estimators quoting at once), not in tidy demo conditions.

Fast or it’s a bug

Keyboard-first, instant navigation, no loading spinners. If the software is slow, we treat it as a defect, not a fact of life.

One operating system, one price

Estimating, scheduling, procurement, cost tracking, claims, selections, safety and ViaSite all share one data model, all included. No à la carte modules or Oryn surcharges.

Earn it monthly

Month-to-month billing with no lock-in is available. We’d rather keep you because the software is good than because a contract traps you.

Accounting stays in Xero

We don’t try to be your accounting system. The operating system for the build here, accounting in Xero, synced, so your bookkeeper keeps their tools.

03 / Where we are

Built in Australia, for Australian builders

VIABUILD is built here in Australia. That’s not a marketing line. It’s why the operating system handles GST and BAS properly, matches ABNs, and integrates natively with Xero with tracking categories. The workflow is shaped around how Australian residential and mid-market builders actually run jobs, from progress claims to the way subbies send invoices.

We’re deliberate about what we claim. You won’t find fabricated awards, invented customer counts or made-up ratings on this site. Where we describe a result, it’s tied to how the product works, and we’d rather under-claim and let the software prove itself on your own jobs.

04 / Who's behind it

The builder behind VIABUILD

Brad Caldon is the founder of VIABUILD and a builder and property developer with nearly two decades across residential construction and development. He holds a NSW Home Builder Licence, is a Registered Building Practitioner across Class 1 to Class 9 buildings, and holds a Bachelor of Construction Management (Building) (Honours) from the University of Newcastle.

VIABUILD’s guides on construction finance and delivery are written from that experience, grounded in live projects and real balance sheets rather than theory. That shows in pieces like Open Job Value and build cost feasibility, which deal with the numbers a builder actually carries, not textbook examples.
